Call Tone and Roger Beep
A call tone and roger beep helps you know when transmissions to and from someone are beginning or ending. The GMR1235-2 features both, and you can turn the roger beep off if you’d prefer.
Easily Reduce Interference
The GMR1235-2 is equipped with an automatic squelch system, which shuts off weak transmissions and unwanted noise caused by terrain conditions or reaching your your range limit.
AAA Battery Power With Automatic Power Save
GMR1235-2 radios are powered by three AAA batteries, and features a unique circuit designed to dramatically extend battery life. If there are neither transmissions nor incoming calls for 2 seconds, the radio switches to Power Save mode. The radio is still able to receive transmissions in this mode.
In addition, the radio features a battery strength meter, to show you when it’s time to charge.
These radios feature a range of up to 12 miles–you’ll get the best range in areas without obstructions.
Wide 12-Mile Range
Use the radios when camping, hiking, hunting, or even for keeping in contact with another person in town. The GMR1235-2 radios offer plenty of options with a range of up to 12 miles. (As with all GMRS radios, you’ll get more range in open terrain than in areas with many high buildings.)
Finding Channels
The GMR1235-2 radio boasts a channel scan feature that lets you easily scan all 22 channels (15 GMRS, 7 FRS). When an active channel is detected, the unit pauses on that channel until the channel is clear. After a two-second delay, the radio will continute scanning. Pressing the PTT (aka Push to Transmit) button while the scan is paused on a channel will allow you to transmit on that channel.

The GMR2838 boasts 22 channels, including 7 FRS and 15 GMRS channels, along with 121 privacy codes to help reduce interference from other users. A channel scan feature lets you easily scan all 22 channels for activity, pausing on each active channel for two seconds. You can also monitor a single channel for any signals.
These radios will give you a range of up to 28 miles, opening up your options considerably (as with any two-way radio, the less obstructions the more range you’ll achieve).

The GMR2838 is an intuitive, easy-to-use radio, with features to keep things seamless. A backlit LCD display makes it easy to read, day or night. A keypad lock feature locks in key functions so they aren’t accidentally changed. A headset jack allows you to listen to radio chatter from your VOX or PTT-type headset (not included) when you’re trying not to scare away your prized prey, and the included belt clips keep your radios right at your side, for hands-free operation.
For transmitting/receiving, you can choose between five call tones to sound when calling each other, and the roger beep feature lets others know when you finish speaking.

Instant Channel 16/9/Triple Watch
Triple Watch mode monitors channels 16 and 9 for a signal while you listen to the currently selected channel. The marine radio checks channel 16 and 9 for activity every 2 seconds.
Dual, Triple, Quad Watch Operation
These different watch modes let you monitor up to two Coast Guard Distress/Hailing channels and one weather channel along with one regular marine channel.
Memory Channel Scan
Automatically scan your programmed channels with Memory Channel Scan. Scanning starts from the lowest to highest channel and stops when it finds an active channel. It remains on that channel until the transmission ends, then resumes scanning after a two-second delay period.

A call tone and roger beep helps you know when transmissions to and from someone are beginning or ending. The GMR1635-2 features both, and you can turn the roger beep off if you’d prefer.

AAA Battery Power With Automatic Power Save
GMR1635-2 radios are powered by three AAA batteries, and features a unique circuit designed to dramatically extend battery life. If there are neither transmissions nor incoming calls for 2 seconds, the radio switches to Power Save mode. The radio is still able to receive transmissions in this mode.
In addition, the radio features a battery strength meter, to show you when it’s time to charge.
Wide 16-Mile Range
Use the radios when camping, hiking, hunting, or even for keeping in contact with another person in town. The GMR1635-2 radios offer plenty of options with a range of up to 16 miles. (As with all GMRS radios, you’ll get more range in open terrain than in areas with many high buildings.)
Finding Channels
The GMR1635-2 radio boasts a channel scan feature that lets you easily scan all 22 channels (15 GMRS, 7 FRS). When an active channel is detected, the unit pauses on that channel until the channel is clear. After a two-second delay, the radio will continute scanning. Pressing the PTT (aka Push to Transmit) button while the scan is paused on a channel will allow you to transmit on that channel.
